2021 COVID-19 Update: The ReStore is open for volunteers! Slowly, we will be opening up for strategic volunteers on the build and repair sites. Fill out the volunteer interest form to stay in the loop! Perhaps there are other ways you can help the organization...
Habitat is Volunteer Powered
It takes everyone working together to build a community! Habitat volunteers have varied skills, interests, and passions that contribute to our mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
Building houses with Habitat is an experience most often associated with Habitat for Humanity, but there are many more ways to get involved. Our volunteer opportunities don’t require special skills or construction experience, just a readiness to pitch in and help. Some Habitat volunteers build houses, while others work with families, reach out to sponsors or serve on a variety of planning committees.
So, join us by swinging a hammer, helping at the ReStore, working alongside Habitat Homebuyers, and in a host of other ways. Whether you are a student, retired, working a full-time job, or raising a family, we have opportunities for you to help in our mission!
Finally, we make sure we provide a safe environment for our volunteers. We ask that volunteers ensure their own safety and those around them by taking our FREE online safety class.
Types of Volunteer Opportunities
-
Individuals
Join us, and work alongside others who've committed themselves to action on the job site, or at a repair site!
-
Groups
Nothing builds cohesion like building a Habitat home together. Manage an existing group or start a new one—our projects involve companies, service clubs, professional associations, church groups and many other kinds of organizations at a job site or at a repair site. This would also be great for any community outreach events we do or the Repair Blitz.
-
Youth Involvement
We appreciate all of our volunteers and do our best to make sure everyone has a fantastic build day. Part of having a great day is safety. Due to the hazards of construction work, there are some limitations on what volunteers under 18 may do. The ReStore would be a great option for you to look into.
-
Office/Admin/Events
If you have professional skill sets in office administration support, community engagement, and communications, we need your time and talents! We’d love to talk with you about the many special events and projects underway.
-
ReStore
Love to shop, organize, or talk with people? Volunteer with us at the ReStore.Volunteers help organize inventory, price donations, assist customers with finding items, create or improve displays, and much more! We need ReStore volunteers seven days a week.
ReStore volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Volunteers ages 16 to 17 years old must have a ReStore waiver signed by a parent or guardian but may volunteer on their own.
