How To Use Donor-Advised Funds to Support Habitat

If you have a Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon donor-advised fund, you can use DAF Direct to make your donation securely online.

Donor-advised funds provide a flexible, tax-savvy method of giving that helps to build the quality of life, health and prosperity in our community through the production and preservation of homeownership. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, donor-advised funds can be established with a number of entities, including community foundations and financial services companies.  BRHFH has an endowment with the Community Foundation of Northern Shenandoah Valley and can recommend their services for donor-advised funds.

You can recommend your donor-advised fund to make a gift on your behalf – even during a multi-year time frame – provided the commitment comes from the fund itself. You can also establish a memorial fund in honor of someone through a donor-advised fund. It could be a new fund altogether or granting in Memorium out of an existing fund. Contact your gift advisor to start the giving process. You will need the following information:

Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity
400 Battaile Drive
Winchester, VA 22601
TAX ID 54-1816368

Payments from donor-advised funds may not be used towards event sponsorships or other payments which return tangible benefits. Please check with your fund advisor for additional information on IRS restrictions on gifts from a donor-advised fund.

Please contact us with any questions you have about donor-advised funds. You can reach us at 540.662.7066, or by email at development@blueridgehabitat.org.

Thank you for joining us in our work to help families build strength, stability, and independence through shelter. Everyone deserves a decent place to live, and everyone can do something today to make that possible for another family.
