STOCKS, SECURITIES, BONDS, AND OTHER GIFTS

There are several ways to give financially to Blue Ridge Habitat, including donating your stocks, retirement accounts, life insurance, charitable gift annuity, IRA withdrawal, or other gifts of cash, securities, and/or other assets.

The easiest way to make a gift of securities is to do an electronic transfer. Your broker will need the following information to do so:

Brokerage Firm DTC Number   0057
Name on Brokerage Account   Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
Brokerage Account Number   276-03598-1-6

Donations of complex assets allow us to ensure that even more families around the world have a safe, affordable place to call home. The local housing crisis presents an ever-growing need, and we use everything at our disposal to respond.

Habitat for Humanity shall make every effort to use funds as designated; nevertheless, under the direction of the Board of Directors, Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity retains complete control over the use and distribution of donated funds in furtherance of its mission unless restricted by the donor. All gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.  Please expect a letter confirming your donation to arrive by mail in 2-4 weeks.

The Development department will personally work with you to understand our sponsorship and donation options and discuss the best fit for your organization.  Email development@blueridgehabitat.org or give us a call at 540.662.7066 so we can schedule a time to talk with you about partnering with Habitat.

Habitat utilizes volunteers for the construction work completed on our homes. However, there are a few types of services that regular volunteers are not able to perform: earthwork, roofing, sewer & water installation, concrete, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work. Occasionally, we also need help with lead & asbestos abatement, and drywall finishing. Any company or individual willing to partner with Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity must be licensed, insured, and committed to completing the entire project.

Please email construction@blueridgehabitat.org for more information or call 540-662-7066.

If you aren’t able to commit to a large project, consider donating your services to our Neighborhood Revitalization Critical Home Repair Program which assists low-income homeowners with repairs and maintenance on their homes. We regularly need plumbers, electricians, roofers, and skilled carpenters.

Please email info@blueridgehabitat.org for more information.

Donate Materials

Do you or your company have unused building materials, hardware, or related supplies? Are you interested in sharing your professional skill set with Habitat? In-kind donations of materials and services are a vital part of our mission; they help us cut costs and build more housing in our community.

Due to bulk purchasing agreements, ongoing in-kind donor relationships, and maintaining continuity and construction standards on all Habitat homes, we are often unable to utilize donated items in new home construction. However, if you would like to discuss donating bulk or new materials to our projects, the Director of Construction will meet with you to discuss an in-kind donor relationship.

Don't despair!  Items that cannot be used in a new Habitat home may be donated to the ReStore. Revenue from donated items sold at the ReStore help us build more Habitat homes each year! So rest assured that your donation will be put to good use in helping families in need.
